REQUIREMENTS
- MEMBER STATUS
Any
individual applying for MEMBER status in this Association must meet the
following requirements and submit, in writing, the required material listed
below:
| I. | A. | The applicant must be
involved in a field related to accident investigation/reconstruction; |
| (AND) B. | The applicant must submit a resume’ depicting his/her training, background and work experience; specifically emphasizing that portion related to the accident reconstruction field; | |
| (AND) C. | A check, in United States currency, in the amount of $50 (the current administrative fee) must accompany each application. The administrative fee shall be NON-REFUNDABLE, whether or not the applicant is approved. | |
| II. | The required material must be submitted to the Secretary of
the IAARS in TEN (10) complete sets. |

| III. |
The Board of Directors reserves the right and may require the applicant to
provide additional information concerning his/her proof of qualification. |
REQUIREMENTS
– MEMBER WITH DIPLOMATE STATUS
Any
individual applying for Member with DIPLOMATE status in this Association must
meet the following requirements and submit, in writing, the required material as
listed below:
| I. | A. | The applicant must offer proof of having been trained in accident
reconstruction and if requested, submit a curriculum of such course to be
thoroughly examined by the entire Board of Directors.
(A copy of the applicant’s certificate of graduation is sufficient
proof of having been trained in accident reconstruction).
In lieu of curriculum or other proof of training, those applicants that
hold current ACTAR certification may submit their ACTAR number and date
certified. The Board will consider
ACTAR members as having met the minimum qualifications for training. |
| (AND) B. | The applicant must submit a resume’ depicting all of his/her work
experience; |
|
| (AND) C. | The applicant must offer proof that s/he has given opinion testimony in a
court of law, civil or criminal, relative to accident reconstruction AND that
the testimony was accepted. It does
not matter whether the case was won, or not, just that the testimony was
accepted. (A letter signed by an
attorney or judge stating that fact would be sufficient for proof); |

| (AND) D. | A check, in United States currency,
in the amount of $50 (the current administrative fee) must accompany each application. The administrative fee shall be NON-REFUNDABLE, whether or
not the applicant is approved.

| II. | Any applicant, who, after one (1) year from the date of graduation from a
reconstruction course, has not testified in a court of law due to the cases
being settled prior to trial, may petition the Board of Directors to waive this
particular requirement. The Board
may waive this requirement provided, however; that all other requirements are
met. |
|
| III. | Any applicant active in the accident reconstruction field and, because of his/her position (i.e., instructor, etc.) has no POSSIBLE opportunity to testify in court may petition the Board of Directors to waive that particular requirement. S/he must submit three (3) examples of reconstruction work for review AND if his/her position is teaching accident reconstruction, s/he must submit the teaching curriculum for review. | |
| IV. | The required material must be submitted to the Secretary of the IAARS in
TEN (10) complete sets. |

| V. | The Board of Directors reserves the right and may require the applicant to provide additional information concerning his/her proof of qualification. |
REQUIREMENTS
– MEMBER WITH FELLOW STATUS
Any
individual applying for Member with FELLOW status in this Association must meet
the following requirements and submit, in writing, the required material as
listed below:
| I. | A. | Meet all requirements listed above for Member with DIPLOMATE status and
submit as stated above, |
| (AND) B. | The applicant must submit an example of accident reconstruction work that
s/he has completed. Such example SHALL include, but not be limited to:
Scale Diagram, Photographs, Measurements, All Calculations used to arrive
at drag factors, speeds, angles, distances, etc.
NOTE: Photocopies of
photographs are acceptable. Your narrative report should
clearly define your work, however; you may be asked to clarify any portion.
(Please
keep in mind that the sample of work does not have to be real elaborate or the
most complicated accident you’ve ever reconstructed.
The Board simply wants to see that the principles of accident
reconstruction are applied properly.) |

PROCEDURES
| I. | The application, including a check in United States currency in the amount of $50 (the current administrative fee) and other required material (ALL TEN SETS) must be
forwarded to: Bill Brandt, PO Box
534, Grand Ledge, Michigan 48837-0534.
Upon receipt of ALL required
material, the Secretary forwards a set to each Board Member.
The Board Members then thoroughly review the material.

| II. | The Secretary will advise the applicant, BY LETTER, of the decision of the Board as soon as possible following discussion by the Board. |
ALL OF THE FOREGOING REQUIREMENTS & PROCEDURES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE
