| Mr. Murphy has
been an Accident Reconstruction Specialist for the State of Massachusetts since 1984 and
has received specialized accident reconstruction training from numerous recognized
training institutes. Training has been provided by IPTM, Texas A&M University
Engineering Extension Service, Mass. Governor's Highway Safety Bureau, Nikon Photography
and Mass. State Police. In addition, Mr. Murphy has attended numerous accident
reconstruction seminars throughout the country. Mr. Murphy has been ACTAR-certified
(#259) since 1993 and has been an ATSSA-certified Worksite Traffic Supervisor since
1994. Mr. Murphy holds an Associate's Degree in Civil Engineering from Greenfield
Community College, Massachusetts. Mr. Murphy has conducted research and co-authored several published works concerning nighttime visibility issues and human factors of motorist processing of traffic control devices in road construction zones. His bicycle accident photographs have been published in Bicycle Accident Reconstruction and Litigation, Fourth Edition by James M. Green, P.E. Mr. Murphy also owns and operates Interstate Accident Reconstruction Consultants which conducts research and provides accident reconstruction consulting services. He has testified numerous times in various courts as an expert witness in accident reconstruction issues. Case law in Massachusetts was established through expert testimony by Mr. Murphy on point of impact and directions of travel from evidence at the accident scene. Mr. Murphy is a member of several national associations and societies which promote accident reconstruction information and training. |
